Service Description

Saggar firing is an ancient pottery technique that involves enclosing pottery within a protective ceramic box called a saggar. During firing, natural materials such as seaweed, banana skins, and copper are added to the saggar, creating unique patterns and colours on the pottery surface. This process results in stunning and unpredictable effects, making each piece one-of-a-kind. The sessions include: - five hours of expert instruction in a small group setting, accommodating up to 5 participants. - Opportunities for exploration and hands-on learning. - All materials required for firing with natural materials -Take home naturally fired pieces. -Up to two firings to get the required results - Price: £90 per person -Suitable for all levels including beginners - Duration: 3-session course - Session 1: Learn building and burnishing techniques for saggar firing. - Session 2: Pack bisque-fired pieces into saggars with chosen materials. - Session 3: Open saggars, revealing unique effects. Polish pieces for shine.
