Like movement on water

2017

The tension between movement and stillness is what is portrayed here. The stillness of the natural materials trapped forever in resin, unable to fulfil their whole lives, but caught in a moment of their living; contrasting with the movement like water of the world through resin, and the slow subtle movement of copper as it rusts and shifts colour, moving in a dance that follows nature's movements.

Manmade... resin: strong, resolute, immovable,

versus nature... copper: fluid, transformative, able to change its own existence.

A trapped memory, feeling or emotion in the resin; a moment to be cherished because there will never be another the same.
