Embark on a woodland exploration in Session 1, where you'll forage for wild clay, enjoy food cooked over an open fire, and conduct initial tests in nature. In Session 2, return to the studio to process the clay and test various mixes for firing. Session 3 allows you to witness how the clay has fired and begin designing your unique pieces, while in Session 4, you'll craft hand-built pieces using locally sourced clay mixes.
I will be guiding and facilitating through this course, showing you how to find, gather, and test clay, sharing my knowledge and experience of working with foraged materials. Foraged clay can behave differently in the kiln, and part of the experience will include trial and error. While the course may not end with perfection, you'll experience the beauty of working with earth substances that connect us to the land.
This course welcomes beginners and those with prior clay experience alike. Whether you're new to pottery or seeking to deepen your understanding, join us as we delve into the rich tapestry of earthy creations and uncover the magic hidden within the land.
